The Library

Located in the villa Olmo, the Library contains all the books and study materials collected over the years by Giuseppe De Vito and now made ​​available to scholars for consultation.
It deals with several thousand printed volumes, magazines, auction catalogs, brochures and photocopy pamphlets, manuscripts, among which is noted the presence of several rare ones especially as regards to the ancient sources and to miscellaneous items. Particularly rich and complete are the sectors dedicated to the modern Neapolitan art and Still Life. The catalog of the Library, nearing completion, is available online for consultation.

The photo archive

In addition to the written texts, the Library houses an impressive specialized photo archive which collects photographs, slides and images on digital media relating to works by the seventeenth century Neapolitan artists and painters of Still Life. Its importance is given both by the large number of images, almost all of high quality, both from their place of origin which document not only works conserved in museums and churches, but also by many paintings in private collections or from an unknown location passed on to the antique market.
The photo archive is being cataloged and a list of the artists will be available online in the future.


The documentary transcription archive fund

An important section of the Library which characterizes the uniqueness is the one relating to the transcriptions of archived documents. These last concern artists or Neapolitan works and are handled by the Archivio di Stato and by the Archivio Storico del Banco di Napoli.
This fund is also being cataloged. A list of artists mentioned in the documents will be available online in the future.
